My name is Mrs. Sofia Seliger. You can call me Mrs. S =) I am the 7-12th grade school counselor at South O'Brien Junior High and High School here in Paullina, Iowa. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in Counseling, and a Mental Health Counseling degree, all from the University of Northern Iowa. UNI FIGHT! My husband, Jason, and I have two children, Quinn (5) and Keira, or Keke (4). We are a busy family of 4 who love to play outside, read lots of books, and enjoy any & all things Disney!
This is my 3rd year at SO'. South O'Brien is a great place to work and learn! As a professional school counselor, it is my job to advocate for students and families for their needs. It's my job to help students work through struggles & challenges, develop strategies to cope with problems, plan their future successes, explore postsecondary options and opprotunities and so much more! Teachers and school staff are some the best people and I enjoy collaborating with and learning from them as much as students. As a school counselor, I believe a school exists for the purpose of nurturing and fostering skills such as resilience, 21st century , and empathy for youth. These are skills everyone has, sometimes we just need a little practice & support. The goal is to assist young people in developing and fostering skills and tools to become able, success, caring adults within our community.

Best, Mrs. S
