The brackets have been busted, the wildcards have been played, and the dust has finally settled on this year’s March Mammal Madness! A huge congratulations to our 5th and 6th-grade wildlife experts who rose to the top of the food chain. To celebrate their incredible predicting skills (and their impressive animal kingdom knowledge), our top two winners from each class earned an exclusive Pizza Party with Mrs. Fuller! We are so proud of all our students for engaging with science, ecology, and a little bit of competitive spirit in such a fun way.

South O'Brien Jazz I competed at the Iowa Jazz Championships on Tuesday, April 7. The band gave their best performance of the season! Three students were awarded soloist awards: Anessa Johnson, clarinet; Brennan Billick, tenor sax; and Asa Flinders, trombone. The band received a Participation Award as they did not place in the Top 8 this year. The South O'Brien community should be very proud of these students and their work ethic to make it to the Iowa Jazz Championships as one of the top 15 bands in the entire state! Thank you to all the parents and the Wolverine family who supported South O'Brien Jazz I in Ames and the entire season. #WolverineWay #GrowAtSO
